One day, out driving with my first car, many years ago, I was stuck behind an ill-fated C5, the Sinclair electric car.
I went very slowly, then the traffic cleared and I accelerated to pass, the young lady pedalling chose that moment to turn right, under my wheels.
There was a bang and I stopped.
On looking under the car I could see she was trapped between my car and the plastic of the C5 and she looked like her body was twisted.
It was before the days of the mobile phone, so no-one was around and no car stopped.
I opened the boot and took out my jack. Finding the spigot I wound up the jack so that my car lifted its side off the lady and the C5.
I pulled the lady out and as I did so her body twisted back as it should be and she said "I can breath".
I flagged down a police car and they called for an ambulance. She recovered in hospital,.
After that the C5 disappeared from our roads.
My insurance paid for her treatment, but I understand she completely recovered.
Chris.
