I was a student at Portsmouth and my work experience was with a big electronics firm with huge defence contracts.
I was asked to take a top secret box as a courier from one base to another at Lincoln.
But the weekend was in between and I was with her, she was a Russian girl dedicated to communism.
So the box came out of the bag. She made a simple copy and put it in the bag made too look similar. We then hired a motorised rowing boat into the channel near Portsmouth. My girl friend wanted her baby to be Russian and put a sonar device over the side on a string.
Minutes later a large black object emerged from the sea and she leaped onto the deck of the submarine and then got into the conning tower, beckoned to follow but I shook my head and the submarine slid away.
I British warship came from nowhere and sent me home.
I boarded the train to Lincoln surrounded by soldiers and went to sleep. The bag was pinched and replaced with a replica.
I arrived at the Lincoln factory and delivered the bag.
They immediately realised the switch when they looked and challenged me.
I asked what was wrong then put my hand in my left jacket pocket. "Is this what you want?"
They were pleased and I was honoured.
Before I got home to my girl I had made the replica and put it in a similar bag.
So the box was switched thrice. I do not know what it was but it was quite imprtant at the time.
!!!Radar!!!
A direct mast head amplifier using stripline and mini transistors like little four legged round pills was what it was.
Secret at the time, I was the designer and builder.
I said that I thought it was safer in my pocket and used a decoy to protect it.
